Sleeping Athletes & Their Performance

Title

Sleeping Athletes & Their Performance

Description

We wanted to find out more about sleep in athletes and how it is related to performance within the college. Using ANOVA analysis method, we conducted our research and then used ANOVA to look at the difference of four different sports at the college. We then compared them to each other to see how sleep related to the team’s performance. Sleep is a very overlooked subject when it comes to student athletes. We are all told to get sleep by our coaches but how many of us actually listen to that and try to get as much sleep as possible to be able to compete at the highest level possible. Sleep is essential for recovery; this is very important for athletes so their bodies can recover. We used survey questions to find our data and find out what role sleep played for certain sports teams. We asked the questions, what sport do you play? On Average how many hours of sleep a night do you get? How do your energy levels feel on a scale from 1-5 after a night of sleep? Do you feel the amount of sleep you get the night before a game or practice will impact your performance? We used these questions and asked Football, Men’s basketball, Girls basketball, and Girls soccer. They then answered our questions, and we picked 10 data points from each sport and compared them to each other. We then conducted the ANOVA test to our data and found our results.
